Dr. Walker received his doctorate from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1999, after having served his externships at Carl Albert Indian Health Facility in Ada Oklahoma, Portland Vision Centers and in Gold Beach, Oregon with Dr. John Rush. Dr. Walker has been very active with various optometric associations and is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Oregon, Washington & Montana Optometric Physicians Associations, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Dr. Walker is currently serving on the Oregon Board of Optometry after being appointed by Oregon Govenor, Kate Brown. He is the 1999 recipient of the Oregon Optometric Association Student of the Year, the 2005 recipient of the “Oregon Young OD of the Year”, and the 2018 “Oregon OD of the Year” in addition to numerous other awards and honors. Dr. Walker is President of the South Western Oregon Optometric Society and served as the 2010-2011 President of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association.
He is also a past chairman for the Brookings/Harbor Chamber of Commerce (2009-2010), past President fo the Rotary Club of Brookings-Harbor (2010-2011) and director of the Curry Health Foundation (2005-2008) . Dr. Walker provides additional expertise to the Eye Centers of Gold Beach and Brookings in the co-management of Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma. Dr. Walker resides in Brookings with his wife Lana and their two children, Zack and Abby.
